About BobMy interest in photography began in college. During that time, I was the photography editor for the college newspaper for 3 ½ years. My main focus was on news, sports, action and landscape photography; concentrating on black and white. I did all of my own darkroom film and print processing. During this time, hundreds of my photographs were published and sold; and I held a solo exhibition.
As I developed my techniques of photography and print development, I also focused on the creative aspect and the artistic impact of my photography. Black and white photography was the area I emphasized early on, since I could do my own processing.
Then, I moved to digital photography. My photographic subject interests includes landscapes, nature, action, macro (close-up), sunrises/sunsets, fireworks, people candids and anything that strikes an emotion or reaction in me.
I enjoy capturing visualizations that are not readily apparent. Photographs that trick the viewer’s eyes are rewarding and fun. Other photographs are displayed since they (hopefully) cause an emotional response; whether it is happy or sad. The bright saturated colors in color photography often provide the needed impact. Alternatively, the mood setting aspects of black and white photography provide more artistic impact. Other times, special techniques, such as high contrast photography or infrared photography; provide the creative drama of the image.
I have done volunteer photography that includes a benefit that raised a significant contribution for the American Cancer Society. It was rewarding to be able to capture the beauty of a theatrical performance under stage lighting while also, being able to raise funds for a worthy cause. I look forward to future volunteer engagements.
